It crushes when a destroyer or cruiser gets too near, which is fairly often for me. I spec all my Battleships for secondaries, because that's how I like it. If you enjoy fighting at close ranges with your secondaries, you’ll probably be better served playing that style with other ships. IJN BBs also have a dispersion curve that is the worst in the game at close ranges, but better than most at long ranges. What makes Yamato good at long range is her dispersion and overmatch potential.Īnyways, a secondary Yamato build is suboptimal. Yamato’s secondaries are at best average, and her armor scheme (a high exposed citadel with a vulnerable “cheek”) and poor gun handling are poorly suited for brawling. The only way to alter Yamato’s range is with the slot 6 range mod, which Yamato doesn’t need at all and doesn’t make her a “sniper.” I can count on one hand the number of BBs that really benefit from the range mod over some other module (for Yamato, either the ROF mod or the unique dispersion mod is much better). Seems to me the main guns shoot far enough as it is. Am I crazy? Do I need to just live with it as is? I'm thinking of going back to full secondary build.
